A global leading management corporate service providing company requires a skilled and competent Compliance Officer to join their friendly team in Malta for a one-year contract.  This role assists the Head of Compliance in the numerous day-to-day compliance functions and related tasks, including but not limited to client due diligence, AML, FATCA, CRS, LEI and GDPR as well as ensuring the organisation is compliant with local legislation and regulations.

Compliance /Functional Areas:

  • To assist the Head of Compliance to ensure that the company adheres, at all times, with the applicable regulatory requirements;
  • To assist with the on-boarding of new clients, undertake the client acceptance
    process and provide advice to the Head of Compliance and to the business
    committee and risk committee;
  • To attend committee meetings, and to take appropriate minutes;
  • To assist with the risk assessment of new and current business relationships;
  • To assist with effective ongoing monitoring of current business relationships;
  • To assist in GDPR, FATCA/CRS/LEI related matters;
  • To assist in drafting reports and internal memoranda as may be required or
    requested;
  • To liaise with client relationship managers and client accounts managers;
  • To keep abreast of legal and regulatory development;
  • To maintain databases and other records and files as may be required;
  • To support the Head of Compliance with regular and ad hoc tasks as may be required from time to time.

Secondary Duties – :

  • To assist in monitoring data management procedures and compliance;
  • To assist in conducting regular security audits to ensure compliance with
    GDPR and address potential problems;
  • To assist in monitoring and maintaining comprehensive records of all data
    processing activities conducted by the company;
  • To assist in monitoring updates in regulations and update internal policies
    accordingly;
  • To keep abreast of all GDPR compliance requirements;
  • To assist in providing internal staff training.

Secondary Duties – FATCA/CRS/LEI:

  • To provide assistance to the Business units on FATCA/CRS/LEI queries;
  • To assist in carrying out FATCA/CRS/LEI assessments and periodical reassessments of clients’ entities;
  • To assist in maintaining records of assessments and ensure that data is
    properly populated on the system;
  • To assist in carrying out reporting of clients’ entities;
  • To undertake other duties from time to time as the Company may reasonably
    require.

Service Delivery:

  • Works closely with the Head of Compliance to ensure that compliance procedures are in place and that adherence is enforced. Attending training, when requested, to ensure the level of service delivery is compliant with the regulations of the jurisdictions in which they operate and are of the level set down by the
    Group.

Regulatory and Corporate Governance:

  • Keeping informed of developments in local laws and regulations vis-à-vis Compliance requirements and other relevant law to ensure that the
    Group complies with the respective regulations for the country;
  • Keeping informed of the Group’s policies and procedures;
  • Uphold the Group’s values by promoting a culture of professionalism, teamwork
    and equality.

The Candidate

  • A solid first degree in a Business subject and post-graduate studies in compliance
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in an organisation active in corporate or
    financial law, fund administration, private equity, real estate, banking or in the
    trust sector;
  • Strong team-player with experience of working in a dynamic organisation and
    able to build bridges between the different stakeholders within the organisation;
  • Hands-on and attention to detail. Also a positive attitude towards solving
    problems;
  • Strong communication and persuasive skills; collaborative and a team player;
  • Ability to think outside of the box;
  • Culturally sensitive and experienced in dealing with multiple nationalities,
    business cultures;
  • Ability to deal with change and to take initiative;
  • Knowledge of relevant Maltese and EU legislation.
