Our Client is seeking to recruit a Data Protection Officer who will be responsible to perform the tasks prescribed by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The ideal candidate will be responsible to ensure that the company itself and affiliated companies act in compliance with Data Protection Legislation.  Responsibilities include:

  • Ongoing monitoring of legal and regulatory developments relating to data protection matters;
  • Providing advice regarding personal data processing activities and supporting the various departments within the company in the drafting of policies and implementation of procedures which may be required;
  • Providing data protection training to staff members and intermediaries;
  • Supporting management in promoting a culture of awareness of data security;
  • Overseeing the implementation of internal controls to ensure compliance with the applicable data protection legislation and regulations;
  • Preparing data protection reports to the Board of Directors;
  • Providing advice, when requested, regarding Data Protection Impact Assessments;
  • Maintaining data processing registers;
  • Providing support regarding data subject requests;
  • Managing, investigating and reporting personal data breaches as may be required;
  • Acting as the main point of contact with the Office of the Information and Data Protection Commissioner.

The Candidate

  • Have a comprehensive knowledge of data protection legislation and regulations;
  • Applicants holding a data protection qualification will be given priority;
  • Have a good understanding of IT Security techniques.
  • Applicants with previous data analysis experience will be given priority;
  • Be highly motivated and able to work on own initiative;
  • Be highly fluent in both Maltese and English;
  • Be a team player with strong organisational and communication skills.
