A multi-line insurance writer requires a capable and confident Finance Manager to join their professional team. This core role will be accountable for the overall Finance function across all branches in Malta. You will ensure the successful operation of the Company and fulfilment of all reporting, compliance, tax and regulatory obligations. This is a key activity and have a significant impact on the Actuarial, Claims and Underwriting functions. You will perform with support from Heads of Management, including the Chief Financial Officer. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years experience working within a similar sector and ideally have a formal accounting qualification. You should also be a team player, who enjoys being part of an international team but also confident and able to work on your own initiative.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Financial and Operational analysis – implement, document and monitor adherence to financial process and recommend process improvements;
  • Financial Reporting – prepare internal and external financial reports and returns for timely reporting to management, Board and Regulator;
  • Measure and monitor key financials, savings and expenditures;
  • Prepare budgets;
  • Oversight and control of local expenses and payments;
  • Ensure adherence to local tax obligations;
  • Ensure adherence with compliance and regulatory obligations including Solvency II;
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors.

The Candidate

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • At least 5 years working experience in the area of finance, accounting, controlling and reporting, ideally in the (re)insurance business;
  • Formal accounting qualification desirable;
  • Excellent English and Maltese (both written and spoken). Additional European languages would be beneficial;
  • Good comprehension of MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point);
  • Numbers & analytical skills;
  • Diligent and accurate working style;
  • Excellent business communication skills;
  • Client relationship skills;
  • Good planning and organisational skills;
  • Ability to interact with all functional areas of the Group including Claims, Underwriting and Actuarial.
