We are currently looking for a Head of Operations to join, on a full-time basis, our Client’s international team in Malta. If you are a dedicated and ambitious professional wishing to work in an environment that rewards competence, then we would like to hear from you.

The Head of Operations will be working closely with all the key operational arms of the business – finance, sales and marketing, IT, internal controls and other support services, whilst being operationally responsible for the overall management of the operations and support to senior management.

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Head of Operations shall be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Managing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the processes in a prescribed regulatory environment across multiple jurisdictions;
  • Drafting, implementing and overseeing procedures and processes in the business lines;
  • Responsible for the timely delivery and maintenance of business lines to the customer (B2B & B2C);
  • Ensuring that the customer experience is and remains consistent, integral and satisfactory throughout the relationship;
  • Challenging and seeking opportunities to increase efficiencies;
  • Responsible for the management of operational risks, including fraud and IT-related risks;
  • Responsible for managing the operations team, including delegating work and overseeing performance;
  • Reporting on the performance of the operations to senior management/the Board on a regular basis;
  • Drafting forecasts and operate within the applicable operational budgets;
  • Providing the necessary support to other departments; and
  • Handling other tasks assigned by senior management.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate should be in possession of a First and/or Postgraduate Degree in one or more of the following areas: Banking, Finance, Commerce, Management or associated subject; from a recognised educational institute.

The desirable applicant should have been working in a similar management role within a licensed payments environment (with the EU/EEA) for at least the past five (5) consecutive years.

  • Good team player who leads with motivation whilst maintaining a satisfactorily level of accuracy and quality in a fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to establish effective relationships, both in the immediate team and wider business;
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to deal efficiently with different internal departments and external counterparts;
  • Fluent in (written and spoken) English;
  • Project management skills;
  • Presentation and Reporting skills.

The following professional and personal attributes shall be considered an asset:

  • Already in possession of a valid PQ with MFSA;
  • Proven work experience in the payment services sector (collecting PSP);
  • Deep knowledge of alternative payment methods, virtual currencies and/or similar products;
  • Basic experience in I.T. programming and/or security;
  • Confident, motivated and self-sufficient;
  • Flexible and comfortable with a broad variety of duties;
  • Genuine and loyal person;
  • A proactive, emotionally intelligent individual with great people skills and a keen eye for detail;
  • Strong values combined with a readiness to challenge convention.
