We have been asked to find a competent In-house Legal Counsel with great commercial law and compliance knowledge for a growing gaming company in Malta. You will provide general legal support and advise and guide the business leaders on corporate initiatives. You will be called upon to give your judgement on a broad range of gaming situations in an evolving environment.

You should be confident and able of independently negotiating, drafting and managing a wide range of contracts, agreements and complex due diligence reviews. We are looking for someone with the ability to manage multiple transactions, take on new responsibilities, and handling whatever challenges are handed to them. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years’ previous experience as an In-house Legal Counsel and will be knowledgeable on GDPR, AML, MGA & compliance, risk and general corporate matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comprehend the pressure points, strategy and objectives of the business and effectively communicate the risks and legal issues involved in any decision to management;
  • Negotiating, writing and executing agreements and contracts which safeguard the company;
  • Offer counsel on a wide range of legal issues and advise company executives accordingly;
  • Work seamlessly with other departments;
  • Advise on contract status, legal risks, and the legal liabilities associated with 3rd Party suppliers (KYC);
  • Provide support for agreements with 3rd parties to the Group, these include contracts with payment service providers, casino suppliers and inter-company agreements;
  • Keep abreast of the latest amendments to the Law and inform the executives of an legal issues which could impact the company;
  • Review advertising and marketing materials to ensure that they follow legal requirements.

The Candidate

  • Have attained a Law degree from a regarded university;
  • 4+ years of experience gained within a large law firm and/or in-house;
  • Have extensive experience in drafting and negotiating contracts;
  • Must have ability to handle and prioritise multiple high-level projects;
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to thrive in fast paced, heavy work environment independently without supervision;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong negotiating skills.
