Are you able to work collaboratively as part of a small, cross-functional Scrum team, actively participating and contributing to Scrum events as appropriate? Do you have at least 3 years of experience in a similar role, with a focus on Linux system administration, network configuration, and management?

This is a great opportunity for you to join a leading Performance Marketing Company that specialises in SEO, e-mail marketing, PPC amongst its channels, based in Malta.

As a Linux Systems Engineer, you’ll interact with other teams to understand requirements and assist as necessary in the design, specification, and implementation of a high performing and resilient technical architecture. With an excellent command of written and spoken English, you’ll be able to develop and maintain internal documentation for key systems and services. Your good interpersonal skills will allow you to coach and assist less experienced team members as well as support the development of CI/CD tooling and processes.

Other Main Responsibilities include:

  • Architect, implement, troubleshoot and maintain highly available network solutions which support our hosting and underlying delivery infrastructure;
  • Configure and maintain switching, routing, and firewalls to maximise network efficiency and security;
  • Support core infrastructure to virtual/private/public cloud infrastructure;
  • Coordinate network access and usage in multiple offices and cloud production systems;
  • Implement, maintain, improve and properly leverage application and infrastructure monitoring and alerting;
  • Perform and analyse vulnerability scans, reporting on security vulnerabilities identified and initiating relevant remediation actions;
  • Implement, test and maintain backup, fail-over and disaster recovery systems and procedures;
  • Troubleshoot, identify root causes of, and remediate complex technical issues;
  • Liaise with third-party support and service vendors to ensure uptime and availability;
  • Consistently achieve best-in-class levels of uptime and availability;
  • Participate in a weekend on-call rotation.

The Candidate

You’ll have 3+ years of experience in a similar role, with excellent command of written and spoken English. You’ll have very good interpersonal skills and ability to learn new technologies quickly. Possession of relevant professional certifications would be considered an asset.

You’ll have experience in working in a DevOps/Infrastructure-as-Code environment as well as feel comfortable in potentially working in a hybrid Linux and Windows environment.

Knowledge and experience in working in a Scrum team or similar Agile environment; TCP/IP networking and infrastructure in complex environments; good knowledge of LAMP stack and server configuration; application and infrastructure monitoring and alerting; or similar, would also be considered an additional plus.
