Our client, a leader in Web services, has asked us to find them a brilliantly talented PHP developer to join their team in Malta. You will work within a small team and be responsible for maintaining the legacy project, but also be very actively involved in V2. The V2 is a micro-service oriented architecture, using RESTFUL APIs and the latest languages. Ideally you will be educated to Degree level in a suitable subject or have exceptional knowledge and experienced gained within a similar role. You should also have sound working knowledge in PHP and in MySQL Databases and no SQL Databases.

You will be seen a perfect candidate if you have have excellent communication skills in both English and French. It is also highly desirable to possess  knowledge of MVC frameworks and NodeJS.

Main areas of responsibility:

  • Maintaining and bug fixing the current code base;
  • Analysing requirements and improving existing applications;
  • Researching, designing and writing new code;
  • Updating the code with added features as per the requests from the operations team;
  • Writing documentation for new features;
  • Providing efficient design and coding;
  • Investigating new technologies and recommending how these can be applied to better improve current operations;
  • Working closely with other staff and ensuring proper communication with other developers, designers and business analysts for an efficient outcome.

The Candidate

Must Have’s:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a similar field; or equivalent experience;
  • At least 3 years working experience in PHP;
  • Experience in MySQL Databases and no SQL Databases, such as MongoDB;
  • Experience in GIT, or other distributed SCMs;
  • Familiar with OOP paradigm and with the best design practices;
  • Knowledge of writing complex SQL queries (optimising them and avoid pitfalls);
  • Experience with developing REST APIs;
  • Good verbal and written communication skills;
  • Object-oriented;
  • Problem solving skills;
  • Able to work at own initiative and part of a team;
  • Fluent in English.

Good To Have’s:

  • Working experience in AngularJS / Angualr 2;
  • Experience with MVC frameworks like symfony, lumen or laravel;
  • NodeJS;
  • Redis;
  • Elastic Search;
  • Fluent in French.
