Key Responsibilities:
  • Embedding an enterprise risk and capital management culture throughout the business;
  • Managing the effective operation and development of the Risk and Capital Management Framework;
  • Maintaining the annual risk management plan and reporting on the progress to Boards;
  • Assisting in the identification of all material risks faced by the business;
  • Managing the continuous monitoring and reporting of risk in conjunction with 1st and 2nd line functions;
  • Ensuring that the risk ownership is allocated to appropriate senior management and facilitating regular risk reviews and reporting on findings to the Boards and their committees;
  • Assisting the business in the setting and understanding risk appetites and tolerances across each of the key risk areas and maintaining an aggregated view on the risk profile of the Company;
  • Monitoring the agreed risk indicators, reporting any material breaches, recommending the actions taken in response, and reviewing the process and procedure to prevent future repeats;
  • Assisting the evaluation, monitoring and reporting of the regulatory capital requirements of the Company;
  • Maintaining and developing appropriate stress and scenario tests and reverse stress tests, and reporting the results of such tests and any recommended remedial actions appropriately;
  • Identifying and assessing emerging risks and assisting the business in providing associated risk information for use in the decision-making process;
  • Conducting the ORSA processes on at least an annual basis and at other such times as required;
  • Managing the risk related aspects of public reporting including but not limited to the annual Solvency & Financial Condition Report and local MFSA specific reporting;
  • Working with colleagues in the Group function to formulate responses to ad-hoc requests from regulators, rating agencies and other stakeholders;
  • Supporting new business and strategic business initiatives through the provision of risk and capital-related expertise and consultancy support.
Key Attributes & Professional Qualifications:
  • A risk management professional with eight (8)+ years of experience preferably within the insurance market;
  • A bachelor’s degree as a minimum;
  • A thorough understanding Risk Policy/Frameworks, Operational Risks/Controls and Regulatory Narrative Reporting (ORSA, Solvency II SFCR and RSR);
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English;
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and foster effective working relationships with geographically distributed teams and stakeholders;
  • Creative, innovative and logical thinking, and great attention to detail;
  • Ability to think strategically and proactively;
  • Self-motivated and solutions-oriented.
