The Junior Compliance & Legal Officer will provide legal, compliance and administrative support by assisting with compliance and KYC related matters, working directly with the MLRO to ensure the company’s goals are met within the deadlines, ensure up-to-date record keeping and managing a variety of administrative and compliance duties.

Other duties include:
  • Updating of Structure charts, Staff Handbook, Company policies, Compliance & Training logbooks etc;
  • Assistance with reviewing of agreements, drafting of resolutions, drafting of letters for the MFSA;
  • Reviewing regulatory newsletters;
  • Assistance on general compliance matters;
  • Assisting the MLRO in compiling due diligence documentation for the Company and related entities upon request; following up on quarterly staff declarations/notifications; assistance during offsite compliance monitoring reviews;
  • Understanding the compliance and regulatory requirements and assisting in improving the administrative processes for a more efficient workflow;
  • Keeping abreast with regulatory changes and assistance on implementation of such changes;
  • Miscellaneous tasks which will vary e.g. completing some corporate governance reporting or conducting research;
  • Assistance in the compiling of Board Packs;
  • Submission of regulatory returns for MFSA, FCA and the Malta Business Registry;
  • Forming part of the Group’s GDPR working group;
  • Other administrative matters: Compiling and preparing reports, presentations, and correspondence; managing databases and filing systems; implementing and maintaining procedures/administrative systems; coordinating meetings with the team and Board members; updating the Malta team with regulatory updates and implementation of Company policies.
Your Profile:
  • Previous experience in a law firm, legal department, or a similar role;
  • Diploma in Law (or equivalent);
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint);
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritise efficiently;
  • Self-motivated with high-performance standards, able to work independently and as a part of a team;
  • Enthusiastic with excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgement with a high level of diplomacy and confidentiality;
  • A team player, dealing effectively with team members and senior management.
