About Role

The Applications Systems Manager will be a key contributor to the Department's enterprise application team, implementing and maintaining mission-critical systems in order to satisfy business needs and organisational goals.

The primary job duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for business support networks and database systems, leading a team of information systems specialists;
  • Manage strategic and business support structures, database management systems, and management software holistically;
  • Conduct in-depth research on the market for software tools/applications, detecting and documenting gaps in expectations vs resource availability, and presenting findings to stakeholders;
  • Compile information systems, technical writing, and technical evaluation tender papers;
  • Carry out supplier management, including negotiating on behalf of and in the best interests of the organisation;
  • Conduct project management, while monitoring and controlling deliverables;
  • Maintain current systems and applications by defining, updating, and enforcing standards and processes for implementing solutions in a consistent manner;
  • Represent the company in local and international working groups and task forces.
Who are you?

We are searching for candidates with a strong background in information and communication technology, a corresponding degree at MQF level 6, and at least seven (7) years of professional experience. You should also have some prior experience dealing with enterprise-level information systems.

The chosen candidate would be required to have extensive experience in software development, business application systems, and project management as a seasoned professional. You should be well knowledgeable about technology, system implementation, and applicable standards. It's also vital to have a good understanding of cloud platforms, applications, and API integrations.

As a people manager, the chosen applicant must have prior experience leading a team of technical professionals. Candidates with strong leadership abilities, professional ethics, and responsibility are preferred. The chosen candidate will also be an exceptional communicator with written and verbal presentation abilities, capable of interacting effectively at all levels of management both within and outside the organisation.

If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications but have at least thirteen (13) years of relevant experience, we would still
be interested in speaking with you.

The ideal candidate should have:
  • Have a strong business mindset and demonstrated IT industry understanding;
  • Can communicate with non-technical internal and external clients and comprehend their demands;
  • Knowledge of IT Service Management standards and procedures, as well as a strong customer focus;
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities;
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as a track record of working independently and with great attention to detail;
  • The ability to work as part of a team, multitask, and fulfil tight deadlines;
  • The ability to actively listen and, when necessary, operate on one's own initiative;
  • The ability to work under pressure and respond to emergencies after hours.
