Job Title: Director of Payments
Location: Hybrid in Mriehel (Malta) or possibly remote if outside Malta 
Reporting to: CEO and Co-Founders
Direct Reports: Heads of Payments

The Role
We are seeking a Director of Payments to lead and scale our payments function as we continue to expand. This role is highly cross-functional, requiring a strong partnership with the Finance team to ensure accurate reconciliation, optimize cash flow management, and enhance financial reporting.

This is a high-impact, business-critical leadership role that requires a mix of strategic vision, hands-on execution, and financial expertise to elevate our payment capabilities and support long-term profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and drive the end-to-end global payments strategy, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and security in all payment operations.
  • Partner closely with the Finance team to optimize cash flow management, reconciliation, and financial reporting related to payment processing.
  • Lead and optimize all payments workflows, implementing structured, automated, and data-driven processes to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Analyze and interpret payment data to provide strategic insights to the executive team, influencing business decisions and driving revenue growth.
  • Work closely with Product and other relevant stakeholders to ensure proper integration and optimization of payment solutions.
  • Develop and maintain executive-level relationships with Payment Service Providers (PSPs), banks, and alternative payment partners to negotiate optimal fees, improve settlement processes, and expand payment options.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory frameworks and licensing requirements, particularly in Curacao and other relevant jurisdictions.
  • Drive innovation by researching and implementing emerging payment technologies, including blockchain, alternative payment methods, and fraud prevention tools.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance, Product, Legal teams to integrate payment solutions seamlessly into the company’s ecosystem, ensuring a frictionless customer experience.
  • Manage risk, security, and fraud prevention strategies, implementing best-in-class measures to protect the business and customers.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing payments professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences and events, networking with key stakeholders and identifying new opportunities to enhance our payments infrastructure.
What You Bring

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in payments within the iGaming industry with experience in an online casino operator.
  • Proven track record in scaling payment operations, optimizing workflows, and driving cost reduction strategies.
  • Deep expertise in global payment solutions, transaction processing, reconciliation software, and alternative payment methods (crypto and sweepstakes models are plus).
  • Strong financial acumen, with the ability to analyze payment data and develop data-driven strategies to enhance profitability.
  • Extensive knowledge of licensing frameworks, including Curacao, and their impact on payment processing.
  • Strategic and hands-on approach, with the ability to execute and deliver measurable results.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with experience building and managing high-performing teams.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented mindset, with a strong ability to navigate challenges and drive business success.
  • Willingness to travel and actively engage in the payments and iGaming industry to stay ahead of trends and innovation.
