We are currently representing a
well-established and rapidly growing business group with diverse operations in their search for a
Group Legal Counsel to join their senior leadership team in Malta.
This is an
excellent opportunity for a commercially minded legal professional to step into a
broad, in-house role offering both strategic influence and hands-on legal work. The successful candidate will report directly to the Group Managing Director and serve as the go-to legal expert across all business entities.
Role Summary As
Group Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for delivering
end-to-end legal support across multiple sectors. This includes managing commercial contracts, overseeing regulatory compliance, advising on GDPR and employment law, and supporting real estate transactions. You'll play a key role in
mitigating legal risk, ensuring corporate governance, and contributing to the company's continued growth.

Salary Up to circa EUR 80,000 depending on skills and experience
Key Responsibilities - Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts (supplier agreements, leases, NDAs, franchising, licensing, etc.).
- Advise on corporate structuring, including M&A, joint ventures, and shareholder matters.
- Ensure all corporate filings and statutory records are maintained and compliant with regulatory bodies.
- Oversee real estate transactions, including property acquisitions, disposals, and lease negotiations.
- Lead GDPR compliance efforts, including data mapping, breach response, and privacy documentation.
- Provide legal support on employment law, including contracts, disputes, terminations, and tribunal representation.
- Manage intellectual property matters such as trademark registration and brand licensing.
- Support KYC and due diligence processes across banking and vendor relationships.
- Stay abreast of regulatory developments and advise on necessary legal adjustments.
- Contribute to the group's ESG strategy by advising on legal obligations and disclosure requirements.
Candidate Profile - LL.D or equivalent EU-recognized qualification; warrant to practice law in Malta is essential.
- Minimum 4 years of post-qualification experience, preferably in corporate/commercial law or an in-house role.
- Solid understanding of Maltese corporate law, employment law, GDPR, and real estate law.
- Experience in large-scale transactions or multi-entity legal support is a plus.
- Commercially astute, with strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
- Fluent in English and Maltese, with excellent communication abilities.
- Discreet, proactive, and capable of managing sensitive legal issues independently.
