Our client, based in Berlin, is looking to hire a Senior Accountant, to join their growing team. The selected candidate will be reporting to the Head of Accounting.
Responsibilities: - Oversee and manage the general ledger and control automatically generated outgoing invoices in our ERP system Odoo.
- Lead the preparation of monthly financial statements and support the annual financial statements in accordance with the German Commercial Code (HGB), ensuring that all balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and provisions are completed correctly, independently, and on time.
- Prepare advance VAT returns and coordinate with external tax advisors and financial authorities.
- Manage the fixed asset register, including asset reconciliation, depreciation calculations, and asset disposals.
- Create and reconcile inter-company invoices and payments, ensuring proper inter-company accounting, monthly reconciliations, and adjustments.
- Support budgeting processes and financial reporting, working closely with the CFO and management to provide accurate reports on revenue, expenses, and forecasts.
- (Optional) Experience with handling international tax issues (e.g., UK, Poland, Switzerland, Czech Republic) is a plus.
- Actively collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the smooth flow of information and help optimize internal accounting and finance processes.
Requirements: - An apprenticeship preferably as an Accountant, Tax Clerk, or a commercial degree, as well as at least 5 years of professional experience in Accounting/Finance.
- A sound understanding of the German Accounting Principles (HGB), as well as user knowledge of Excel and ERP systems.
- A structured, careful, and proactive working style, with the ability to integrate well into an existing team
- Strong interest in the digitization and automation of finance processes.
- Thrives in a dynamic scale-up environment and motivated by the challenges of working in a growing company with international focus.
- Located in Berlin or nearby, with good German and English skills (B2 level).
