Our client, an international insurance company, is seeking a Financial Controller to join their team and report to the Head of Finance.
Responsibilities: - Oversee all accounting and reporting (management accounts, financial statements, Solvency II, budgets, forecasts, group and board reporting).
- Manage non-technical accounting across entities, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP, US GAAP and IFRS.
- Lead treasury, banking, reconciliations, investment accounting and operating expense management.
- Run end-to-end quarterly reporting processes, ensuring timely regulatory and group submissions.
- Lead annual budgeting and forecasting, including variance analysis.
- Manage, develop and mentor the UK/Europe finance team.
- Partner with the Financial Controller (EU) to ensure accuracy of technical accounting.
- Oversee all tax matters (IPT, levy, VAT, income tax) for AIUK.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships with finance, actuarial, operations and reinsurance teams.
- Manage external advisors and act as main contact for external audits.
- Ensure appropriate team resourcing and support the Head of Finance UK/Europe in team operations.
- Maintain compliance with UK/international regulatory requirements, financial crime rules, sanctions and Consumer Duty principles.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
- 5+ years’ managerial experience in a regulated financial services environment.
- Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, US GAAP and IFRS.
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, financial and commercial acumen.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work across teams.
- Highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities.
- Proactive mindset with focus on process improvement.
