Senior Backend Developer (.NET)

A well-established, regulated financial services organisation with a strong digital focus is looking to expand its engineering team with an experienced Senior Backend Developer.

You will join a high-performing development team responsible for building and evolving mission-critical digital platforms used by a large and growing customer base. This is a hands-on senior role where you’ll help shape backend architecture, drive technical quality, and contribute to highly scalable, secure, and resilient systems.

The role suits someone who enjoys working on complex backend challenges, modern architectures, and high-availability systems in a collaborative, product-driven environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade backend services using modern .NET technologies
• Write clean, efficient, and testable code following best practices and coding standards
• Contribute to distributed and event-driven architectures, using messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ and Kafka
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architectural decision-making
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, working closely with cross-functional teams
• Collaborate with DevOps and Infrastructure teams on CI/CD pipelines, containerised deployments, and cloud-native solutions
• Ensure applications meet high standards of performance, scalability, and security
• Build and maintain reusable components and shared libraries to support scalable development
• Develop and execute unit, integration, and performance tests
• Keep technical documentation accurate and up to date
• Mentor and support junior developers through knowledge sharing and coaching
• Research new technologies and propose improvements aligned with long-term technical strategy
• Help define and enforce development standards and engineering best practices

What We’re Looking For

• Strong hands-on experience with C#, .NET Core, and modern .NET technologies
• Solid understanding of multithreading, concurrency, and caching (e.g. Redis)
• Experience working with message queues such as RabbitMQ and Kafka
• Strong background in distributed systems, microservices, and RESTful APIs
• Extensive experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MS SQL, Oracle); NoSQL is a plus
• Proven experience with containerised applications (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Strong testing background, including NUnit, Moq, and test-driven development
• Familiarity with Git-based workflows, Jira, and Confluence
• Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Ideally 6+ years of professional backend development experience
