Our client is seeking a
YouTube Optimisation Manager to drive the performance, discoverability, and monetisation of video content. Working closely with the Head of Video, this role owns optimisation end to end - ensuring each video reaches the right audience and converts views into measurable outcomes such as subscribers, engagement, and affiliate revenue.
You’ll sit at the intersection of creative, analytics, and monetisation teams, acting as the optimisation lead across the YouTube ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities: YouTube SEO & Discovery: - Research keywords and benchmark competitors to shape video topics
- Optimise titles, descriptions, tags, and thumbnails for discoverability
- Improve engagement using playlists, cards, chapters, and end screens
Content & Metadata Optimisation: - Refine metadata, timestamps, pinned comments, and community posts
- Work with editors and writers to improve hooks, intros, and retention
- Run A/B tests on thumbnails, titles, captions, and CTAs
Monetisation & Affiliate Optimisation: - Implement affiliate links, codes, overlays, and calls to action
- Monitor affiliate performance and optimise conversion paths
- Coordinate with monetisation teams on tracking, compliance, and attribution
Analytics & Growth: - Track CTR, watch time, retention, AVD, RPM, and traffic sources
- Produce regular performance reports with actionable insights
- Identify performance drops and growth opportunities
Collaboration & Governance: - Act as the final optimisation checkpoint before publishing
- Advise creative teams on formats, trends, thumbnails, and hooks
- Collaborate with SEO, BI, and content teams to align strategy
Platform & Policy Oversight: - Stay current on YouTube algorithms, monetisation rules, and best practices
- Ensure compliance with copyright, disclosures, and affiliate policies
- Audit existing content to keep metadata and CTAs optimised
Required Experience & Skills: - 3+ years’ experience growing YouTube channels with an SEO-led approach
- Proven results in driving views, watch time, and subscriber growth
- Strong knowledge of YouTube Studio, Analytics, and retention analysis
- Experience using tools such as TubeBuddy, vidIQ, or similar platforms
- Understanding of affiliate marketing, tracking, and conversion funnels
- Excellent writing skills for titles, hooks, descriptions, and CTAs
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to turn data into action
- Confident collaborator who can influence creative teams
- Highly organised and comfortable managing multiple channels
Performance Metrics: - Channel growth (impressions, views, subscribers)
- Engagement (CTR, watch time, retention)
- Monetisation impact (affiliate conversions, RPM, revenue per video)
