A forward-thinking organisation is expanding its digital transformation capabilities and is seeking an AI Process Automation Engineer to help drive intelligent automation across the business.
This role sits at the intersection of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Artificial Intelligence, focusing on designing and implementing solutions that reduce manual effort, improve operational efficiency, and enhance decision-making across business and IT processes.
Working closely with business stakeholders, IT teams, and process owners, you will translate real-world operational challenges into scalable automation solutions — from initial concept and proof of concept through to deployment, monitoring, and continuous optimisation.
 
The Role
As an AI Process Automation Engineer, you will identify opportunities to automate processes across multiple departments and develop intelligent workflows that combine automation platforms with AI technologies.
You will play a key role in improving organisational efficiency by implementing scalable automation frameworks while ensuring strong governance, security, and operational reliability.
 
Key Responsibilities
Process Discovery & Analysis

• Identify, evaluate, and prioritise automation opportunities across departments such as Finance, Operations, HR, and IT
• Map and document "As-Is" and "To-Be" processes, identifying inefficiencies and automation potential
• Conduct feasibility studies and ROI assessments for automation initiatives

Automation Design & Development

• Design, develop, test, and deploy automation workflows using platforms such as UiPath, Power Automate, or equivalent
• Integrate automation solutions with enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, BI, Service Desk) using APIs or connectors
• Incorporate AI components such as LLMs, OCR, NLP, and predictive models to enhance automation capabilities
• Maintain strong standards for code quality, reusability, and documentation

Operations & Support

• Manage orchestration tools for scheduling, monitoring, and maintaining automation workflows
• Troubleshoot production issues and ensure reliability and scalability of solutions
• Continuously optimise workflows to improve performance, accuracy, and stability

Collaboration & Change Enablement

• Work closely with business stakeholders to translate process requirements into automation solutions
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) sessions and provide training and knowledge transfer to end users
• Promote adoption of automation initiatives across the organisation

Governance & Compliance

• Ensure automation solutions comply with security policies, GDPR, and internal IT governance standards
• Implement secure credential management and role-based access control
• Follow approved development and deployment lifecycle methodologies

Continuous Innovation

• Stay up to date with emerging automation technologies such as copilots, process mining, and task mining
• Identify new opportunities for AI-driven automation initiatives
• Contribute to organisation-wide automation frameworks and best practices

 
What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in RPA or process automation development
• Proven experience delivering end-to-end automation projects
• Strong expertise with RPA platforms such as UiPath, Power Automate, or Automation Anywhere
• Experience integrating automation with ERP/CRM systems and APIs
• Scripting experience with Python, PowerShell, or .NET is an advantage
• Familiarity with AI technologies such as LLMs, OCR, NLP, or machine learning-based automation
• SQL or data-handling experience is considered an advantage
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and documentation skills in English
• Collaborative team player with a proactive, ownership-driven mindset
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment
