Senior Underwriter (Commercial & Marine)
Location: Malta
 
I am currently supporting a well-established insurance provider in Malta that is looking to hire a Senior Underwriter to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to take ownership of a varied portfolio while contributing to team development and business growth.
 
The Role
You will be responsible for underwriting new business, renewals, and mid-term adjustments, while supporting the wider team and maintaining strong relationships with brokers and clients.
 
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite new business, renewals, and mid-term adjustments within delegated authority
- Assess complex risks and determine appropriate terms, pricing, and coverage
- Build and maintain strong relationships with intermediaries and clients
- Monitor renewal pipelines and drive retention through proactive engagement
- Support junior team members and ensure consistent underwriting standards
- Collaborate with internal teams such as Claims, Finance, and Compliance
 
Candidate Profile
- 5+ years of underwriting experience within insurance
- Experience across commercial and/or marine products
- Strong technical underwriting knowledge and risk assessment skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- ACII qualified or working towards qualification preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
