Business Development Manager in Card Acquiring to drive growth in the company's card acquiring business, with a particular focus on subscription and recurring payment models. This is a high-impact role where you will acquire and scale high-volume subscription merchants while optimising performance across the full card acquiring lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities - Develop and grow a high-quality portfolio of card acquiring merchants with a focus on subscription and recurring billing models
- Identify, approach, and onboard high-volume subscription businesses (SaaS, streaming, eCommerce, membership platforms, etc.)
- Lead commercial negotiations on pricing, risk appetite, processing terms, and acquiring agreements
- Optimise the full recurring payment lifecycle, including CIT, MIT, retries, dunning flows, and recovery strategies
- Increase approval rates, recurring success rates, and overall portfolio profitability
- Manage acquiring risk for subscription merchants, including chargebacks, disputes, and scheme threshold management
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with merchants and ecosystem partners
- Collaborate closely with Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Finance teams to ensure sustainable and compliant growth
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and new opportunities in the card acquiring and subscription space
Requirements - Proven experience in card acquiring or payments business development
- Strong hands-on expertise with subscription and recurring payment models
- Deep understanding of recurring billing mechanics (CIT/MIT, card-on-file), dunning, and recovery strategies
- Solid knowledge of Visa and Mastercard rules, chargeback management, and acquiring risk
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to assess merchant unit economics and risk profiles
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Fluent in English (additional languages are a plus)
- Self-motivated with a strong ownership mindset and ability to work independently
