Boston Link is currently supporting a well-established Maltese group operating across the retail, distribution, food service and property sectors in the search for a Financial Controller.


Reporting directly to senior management, the Financial Controller will take ownership of the finance function, ensuring accurate reporting, strong financial controls and regulatory compliance. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to an experienced finance professional who enjoys being involved in both strategic decision-making and day-to-day financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly management accounts, annual financial statements and financial reports
• Manage budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning across the group
• Lead, mentor and develop the finance team
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with Maltese accounting standards, tax regulations and statutory requirements
• Coordinate annual audits and manage VAT and regulatory reporting
• Work closely with department heads to support operational and commercial decision-making
• Monitor cash flow, banking relationships and company funds

Requirements

• Fully qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA or equivalent)
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior finance role, including team management
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting and cash flow management
• Proficient in accounting and ERP systems
• Fluent in English
• Background in retail, distribution, FMCG, food service or property is an asset
