This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of the organisation's risk management framework while providing independent oversight across key risk areas.
Key Responsibilities - Support the identification, assessment, monitoring and reporting of key risks, including credit, liquidity, operational, conduct, concentration and interest rate risk.
- Maintain and enhance the Risk Management Framework, Risk Appetite Framework, policies and procedures in line with regulatory expectations and industry best practice.
- Monitor the organisation's risk profile, risk appetite metrics and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), investigating breaches and escalating material issues where appropriate.
- Provide independent Second Line oversight and challenge over First Line risk activities, controls, methodologies and reporting.
- Perform thematic reviews, risk assessments and control testing to evaluate the effectiveness of risk management processes.
- Monitor credit portfolio performance, including arrears, defaults, non-performing exposures (NPEs), recoveries, utilisation and concentration trends.
- Review and challenge credit underwriting standards, lending strategies and credit decision-making processes.
- Assess credit risk models, impairment methodologies and IFRS 9 assumptions, supporting the ongoing development of risk measurement frameworks.
- Investigate operational risk events, control weaknesses and material incidents, identifying root causes and monitoring remediation actions.
- Prepare high-quality risk reports and dashboards for Senior Management and Board Committees.
- Support ICAAP, ILAAP, Recovery Planning, Contingency Funding Plans and stress testing exercises.
- Assist during regulatory inspections, supervisory reviews and internal audit engagements.
- Monitor and challenge the implementation of remediation plans arising from audits, inspections and risk reviews.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Banking & Finance, Risk Management, Economics, Accounting or a related discipline.
- Professional qualifications such as FRM, PRM or CFA would be advantageous.
- At least 5 years' experience within Risk Management, Credit Risk, Internal Audit, ICAAP/ILAAP, Regulatory Reporting or another Second Line control function within financial services.
- Strong understanding of banking regulation, corporate governance and enterprise risk management.
- Experience performing risk assessments, control reviews and providing independent challenge to business stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and report-writing skills.
- Previous exposure to ICAAP, ILAAP, Recovery Planning, Stress Testing or regulatory reviews would be considered an advantage.
