About the Role
Our client is a fast-growing online gaming operator that has recently obtained its MGA licence and is entering an exciting phase of expansion. They are looking for an experienced Senior Risk, Fraud & Payments Specialist to establish and develop their Risk, Fraud & Payments function.
  
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys building processes from the ground up. It is not a management position, but rather an opportunity to take ownership of a key business function and make a real impact.
  
Responsibilities
  • Establish and develop the Risk, Fraud & Payments function.
  • Review customer accounts and investigate suspicious activity.
  • Monitor transactions to identify fraud, money laundering risks, bonus abuse and payment irregularities.
  • Build and continuously improve risk and fraud prevention processes.
  • Work closely with the Compliance, Payments, Customer Support and Operations teams.
  • Help ensure compliance with MGA regulatory requirements and support preparations for future market licences
  • Analyse fraud trends and recommend improvements to controls and procedures.
  • Manage payment-related issues, chargebacks and payment provider escalations.
  • Produce reports and insights on fraud, payment performance and operational risks.
  • Support the implementation of fraud prevention and risk management tools.
  
Requirements
  • 3–6+ years of experience in Risk, Fraud and/or Payments within the online gaming industry.
  • Strong understanding of MGA regulatory requirements.
  • Experience reviewing customer accounts and investigating fraud cases.
  • Good knowledge of payment flows, KYC, AML and responsible gaming principles.
  • Experience working with fraud prevention tools and payment providers.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on operational role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Must already be based in Malta or have the right to work in Malta.
  
Nice to Have
  • Experience working in regulated European markets
  • Exposure to launching or scaling Risk & Fraud functions.
  • Experience with payment optimisation and fraud detection platforms
