I’m supporting a growing European fintech with the appointment of a Senior AML Specialist to strengthen its Compliance team in Finland.
  
This is a hands-on role covering the full AML lifecycle—from digital onboarding and customer risk assessments through transaction monitoring, investigations, regulatory reporting and sanctions screening.

Key responsibilities:
  • Review customers onboarded through digital channels, covering CRA, CDD, EDD, identity verification, PEPs and high-risk jurisdictions
  • Investigate transaction-monitoring alerts across payments and transfers
  • Identify unusual or potentially suspicious customer activity
  • Prepare and submit suspicious transaction reports to the Finnish FIU
  • Support the continued development of the company’s AML/CFT risk assessment
  • Review and improve transaction-monitoring rules, controls and alert effectiveness
  • Oversee sanctions and PEP screening and investigate potential matches
  • Investigate cases involving both AML and fraud risks, including mule accounts and account takeover
  • Maintain accurate and defensible case files and escalation records
  • Support FIN-FSA requests, inspections, audits and remediation activities
  • Contribute to AML/CFT policies, procedures, controls and internal training
  • Monitor Finnish and EU regulatory developments
  
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Finnish citizenship and fluency in Finnish and English
  • At least five years’ hands-on AML/CFT experience within banking, payments, electronic money or another regulated financial-services environment
  • Strong practical experience with CDD, EDD, PEPs and higher-risk customers
  • Experience with digital or remote customer onboarding
  • Hands-on transaction-monitoring and suspicious-activity investigation experience
  • Experience preparing SARs, STRs or equivalent regulatory reports
  • Practical sanctions and PEP-screening experience
  • Experience supporting AML/CFT risk assessments
  • Strong knowledge of Finnish and EU AML/CFT requirements
  • A relevant university degree
  • Previous fintech, payments, EMI or FIN-FSA exposure would be considered highly advantageous
  • CAMS, ICA or another relevant AML qualification would be beneficial
