About the Role We are looking for an experienced
Security Engineer to join a technical security team within a regulated financial services environment.
The role will focus on protecting critical infrastructure, applications and data through the design, implementation and continuous improvement of security controls. You will work across security operations, vulnerability management, incident response, regulatory compliance and secure infrastructure, with a strong hands-on technical focus.
Key Responsibilities - Design, implement and optimise enterprise security controls, including next-generation firewalls, DLP, SIEM and EDR solutions.
- Support the investigation and response to complex security incidents, including root cause analysis and post-incident reviews.
- Conduct and coordinate vulnerability assessments, threat modelling and penetration testing, ensuring findings are appropriately prioritised and remediated.
- Implement and maintain security policies, standards and technical architectures in line with regulatory and industry requirements.
- Provide technical support during internal and external audits, regulatory examinations and due diligence activities.
- Support security awareness initiatives and the delivery of security training to employees.
- Monitor the evolving threat landscape and assess the potential impact of emerging risks, technologies and regulatory developments.
- Work closely with infrastructure, application and other technical teams to ensure secure design, integration and operation of systems.
- Identify opportunities to improve security processes through automation.
- Contribute to business continuity and disaster recovery planning and testing from a security perspective.
Requirements - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Security or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years of experience in a technical security engineering role.
- Previous experience within banking, financial services or another highly regulated environment is preferred.
- Good understanding of MFSA regulations, EBA guidelines and applicable EU requirements, including PSD2 and GDPR.
- Hands-on experience with security technologies such as:
- Firewalls
- IDS/IPS
- SIEM
- Endpoint security / EDR
- Vulnerability management platforms
- Strong understanding of security principles, threat management and infrastructure protection.
- Relevant security certifications such as Security+, CEH, CISSP, CISM or similar are considered an asset.
